Want to know a secret?
There is a legend connected to the Prague Astronomical Clock. It was supposedly started by the author himself, Master Hanuš, who was very well respected in Prague for his remarkable work. As the story goes, news reached the councillors that the master had been commissioned to make another astronomical clock, and that this one was going to be even more beautiful and much more sophisticated. They were horrified. The Prague Orloj would lose its prestige and glory. To prevent the master from working, they decided to blind him with hot irons. Then one day, the now blind Master Hanuš asked to be led to the Orloj to bid his creation farewell. In an unguarded instant, he touched something on the clock and its mechanism immediately stopped. At that very moment, Master Hanuš fell to the ground, dead. It took many generations before the clock could work again.
